A report by Natural England showed that people with vision impairments and other disabilities don’t or are unable to access green and blue spaces for recreational purposes. This coincides with our own research which showed that blind and vision impaired people face substantial barriers that prevent them from engaging with the world around them as they would wish to.
MyVision Oxfordshire launched the Green Walks Social Group with the objective of finding out what obstacles were in the way of people accessing green spaces and how we can overcome them.
In this webinar Mark from MyVision Oxfordshire talks us through setting up these groups and what unexpected benefits attendees have experienced. Mark will be joined by Tanya Braun from Living Streets, who'll share the benefits of walking.
This webinar took place on Thursday 21 November. You can find a recording, transcript and slides below.
The webinar is a great opportunity to hear about a successful project which is breaking down barriers to isolation and loneliness.
The session will interest:
- People directly impacted by sight conditions and loneliness and isolation
- Organisations looking to set up their own access to blue and green spaces groups
- Organisations tackling loneliness and isolation
