Arrange a house clearance
Did you know our friendly team and their Fight for Sight van offer a seamless house clearance service? Arrange a house clearance for a pain-free way to sort through a house full of furniture and bric-a-brac, while making a meaningful donation that will Save Sight. Change Lives.

Our house clearance and collection service is run by a friendly and experienced team, who will work to clear your home or property with minimum disturbance. Before a house clearance we'll offer an assessment of the work entailed, so everyone feels comfortable and you can donate your items to help us put change in sight for people living with vision loss.
We have experience working in properties of all sizes, and if you simply have larger items to donate, rather than a house-full, we can arrange a local collection at your convenience.
Please do get in touch to discuss how our service can help you make sure your unwanted items become part of the fight to tackle vision loss.
House clearance FAQ
-
How do I book a Fight for Sight house clearance?
Simply email Jack, who manages all our collections and he'll be in touch to discuss your requirements and arrange a free assessment.
-
What do you take as part of a Fight for Sight house clearance?
We love furniture, bric a brac, art, clothing and anything we think we can sell to Save Sight. Change Lives. Unfortunately there are some items we can’t take, which we can let you know about as part of our free assessment.
-
How much does your house clearance service cost?
We’ll carry out a free assessment beforehand to let you know if there’ll be a charge attached to the service.
There is usually only a cost attached to items we collect but can’t sell. In the past this has been anything between £0 – and £500.
Charging in this way also helps us to cover the cost of running the vans, the congestion charge and paying the experienced staff who’ll process your kind donation.
-
Do you offer collection even if I don’t have a whole house to clear?
Yes. Our local collection service is available if you simply have a couple of items of furniture or a large amount of clothing to donate.
We do ask that you only book a slot for clothing you’re confident we can sell in our shops, otherwise we’re out of pocket as a charity, which will detract from the important work we can fund to Save Sight. Change Lives.
-
How do house clearances work on the day?
House clearances can take anything from between an hour and two days. Once you’re happy with the amount we’ve quotes for the collection (if anything), we will organise the time you’d like us to arrive. We’ll also work with you to make sure its at a time you can be present during the clearance. We like to do it this way to ensure we take everything you’d like to donate but nothing you wouldn’t!
Once your house clearance is complete, we’ll take everything away and make sure it’s sold in our high street shops or in our ecommerce shops (eBay etc) to ensure you donation raises the maximum funds.
-
Who will do the house clearance and will they take care of my things?
It’s usually a friendly team of two to three members of staff, who all undergo DBS checks. Our team are experienced at getting things packaged away with care and efficiency, working in your home or property with minimum disturbance.
That said they do always appreciate being offered a cup of tea!
-
What areas does your house clearance service cover?
We try to keep collections and house clearances within a five-mile radius of our shops. We’ve conducted house clearances for everything from flats in West Norwood, to mansions in Chelsea.
-
What do I need to do to prepare for my house clearance?
We’ll ask for key details beforehand, including how many flights of stairs you have, whether there’s lift access, on-street parking, and also whether your furniture fits through the doors! We’ll also request you sign up to Gift Aid as part of your donation, as this adds 25% to the amount we can raise for each item we sell, but we can walk you through the process.
Please do give some thought to parking beforehand, perhaps you have visitor permits we could make us of? We’ve had some heart-breaking situations before, where we’ve been unable to conduct a house clearance because there’s been no-where to park our van legally.
-
What will the items donated from my house clearance help to fund?
We’re one of the smaller charities out there, so we really appreciate all donation that help us to Save Sight. Change Lives.
Every pound we raise helps us to fund life-enriching social projects for people living with sight loss, as a well as scientific research to tackle to causes of vision loss. You can read more about what we do here >
-
What if I need to cancel or alter my house clearance booking?
We try to be as flexible as we can, but our hard-working vans and staff are often needed between our charity shops across London and beyond. Please do speak to our team and we'll try to accommodate you, so it’s a service that works for everyone.
