Our research funding

We focus on finding and funding scientific research that advances the understanding, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of eye disease.

Our vision is to ‘Save sight. Change lives.' To that end, we fund brilliant minds working to put change in sight for everyone impacted by vision loss.

You might be an early-stage researcher, investigating clinical or non-clinical solutions to eye disease, or seeking to take time out from the clinic to explore a research idea. Each year we welcome applications across several schemes, to support a range of vision researchers.

The awards we make are guided by our research strategy, which focuses on four key eye disease areas:

  • Understanding
  • Diagnosing
  • Preventing
  • Treating
